News From Our Kids
Health
All of the children and staff got the H1N1 vaccination. Lots of tears were shed but we are thankful to see our kids healthy!
Birthday fun
We had a birthday celebration for our little “iron man” with a thematic cake and finger foods. All of the kids’ favorites!
Pizza night
On a Friday night, the kids enjoyed some delicious pizza made by dear “Aunt” Sula. They had a blast!
Learning activities
Even though school has not started back yet, “Aunt” Cris comes in every day to give classes and special lessons. Our children will be going back to school super sharp!
Models for a day
Our psychologist, who is also a photographer, did some photoshoots with all of the children. She used it as an opportunity to work on their self-esteem with different backdrops and wardrobe changes. It was a beautiful and emotional day.
Education
In May we began using an interactive literacy program with the younger children. Their development is amazing!
Sports
This past month, we introduced volleyball to the children. They had so much fun playing and learning the rules.
Lovely surprise
Last week, we were surprised by a note written by the girls expressing their love for Lar Maná. We were very touched and uplifted to find it. (“To everyone at Lar Maná: We love you.”)
News From Our Home
Finished multi-purpose area
This past month, we were able to finish the installation of the ceiling in our multi-purpose room. We took advantage of this time to paint it as well. It turned out beautiful! We will hopefully be having blessed events in this area very soon.
Adoption & Reintegration
Adoption
Even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, our judicial system continues to work on placing our children in adoptive families. We are happy to witness the beginning of this new family.
Social work
Lar Maná continues to support the children who were able to return to their birth families when they are in dire situations.
