Family Reintegration

Another month, another bittersweet goodbye to one of our kids. While it’s tough to see them leave, we’re heartened knowing they’re taking a step toward their happiness and well-being. We hope and pray that love and support is provided in this new family adjustment. ….. …..

Birthdays of the Month

Three of our wonderful kiddos celebrated their birthdays, and we threw some memorable parties to mark the occasion. A heartfelt thank you to all who contribute – your support makes these moments of joy possible! ….. …..

Special Invitation

Once again, we’ve been honored with an invitation from the Director of Recife’s Naval Hospital, Lisa Tiemi Ogawa, to participate in the ceremony celebrating the military institution’s 57th anniversary.

We are very blessed by the Navy here and their ongoing support through food donations, gifts for the kids and visits to our home mean the world to us. ….. …..

Tribute to the Walfrido Teachers

April was a time to show appreciation for the dedicated teachers at Walfrido Advíncula School, the school that many of our children attend. These individuals go above and beyond in shaping our kids’ futures, and we’re immensely grateful for their hard work.

May God continue blessing them! ….. …..

Social Project – Supporting Mothers

We’re excited to share some heartwarming news with you! Thanks to the support of Itaú Social, a program created by national bank Itaú, Lar Maná has been able to carry out impactful social projects within our local community. Every week, children from the community attend computer classes right here at our institution. Additionally, on a monthly basis, we host meetings with the mothers or guardians of these students. During these gatherings, we discuss important topics related to everyday life and child education, among other things.

During our latest meeting, psychologist Nataly and educator Lusileide led a discussion on common childhood/adolescent disorders and their impact on family life. They emphasized how understanding these disorders can lead to improvements and professional assistance when needed.

These initiatives aim not only to provide knowledge but also to foster the exchange of experiences and strengthen community ties. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Itaú Social for making these activities possible. They contribute not only to the development and well-being of the children under our care but also to the entire community surrounding us. Together, we can build a more supportive and hopeful future! ……

Renovation

Thanks to the generous support of Itaú Social, we’ve been able to make some much-needed upgrades to Lar Maná. These improvements will create an even better learning environment for our kids. The “book house” we used to have was now transformed into two new classrooms, for afterschool tutoring sessions and another one for reading lessons. We are very grateful to the partnership with Brazilian Bank Itaú, that allows us to fund renovations like this one.

Did You Know You Can Have a Positive Impact on the Life of an At-risk Child?

A baby, who was welcomed by us, is fighting for her life in a hospital in the city, waiting for a place in the ICU. She is a victim of the devastating consequences of a pregnancy marked by her mother’s addiction to crack. She has a serious respiratory problem, which makes her battle more difficult.

Unfortunately, this baby’s reality is not uncommon. We have had four other children in this situation for more than 10 days. Unfortunately, the majority of children who reach us are extremely fragile and suffer from malnutrition, as a result of the neglect and abuse they suffered before being rescued.

Each child requires care that costs R$160.00 per day (24 hours), totaling R$6,400.00 every 10 days (for the four children). We are doing everything we can to ensure these children receive the proper treatment and love they deserve. Therefore, we had the idea of doing this online fundraiser, to join forces and cover the amount of R$ 19,200.00 that would cover one month of hospitalization. If our children manage to recover before then, we can have a fund for health emergencies, which are an ongoing need for us.

To do this, we need your help! Every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference and with YOUR contribution, we will ensure that these vulnerable children have their integrity and health preserved. Together, we can be the light on their path.

We sincerely thank you for your generosity and support. Any amount you can donate will be a great help. Another way to help is by sharing this fundraiser with your family and friends.

Please join us, once again, in this mission to care for these children. May God bless each and every one of you! Thank you for everything!
