Mission Accomplished

If you know Lar Maná, you must know that we take care of our children until they receive a safe and loving new home. Sometimes this home comes through adoption and other times through reintegration. In the month of May, we had a family reintegration

Birthday of the Month

If you follow our monthly news, you must already be aware of our tradition. Every month we have a party with a special theme to honor the birthdays.

In May we had a double themed celebration: Captain America and the Disney Princesses. The two brothers so dear to us were celebrated and made sweet memories on this day so full of joy.

Grandma Charlene Pedagogical Center

The little ones are still learning at full speed in their classes! Today, we have seven children, ages 2 to 4, attending the Grandma Charlene Pedagogical Center every day.

Our little ones have classes from 8am to noon, accompanied by our teaching staff, funded by the Santander Bank’s Amigo de Valor Project. This learning routine has not only resulted in academic growth, but also in a lot of fun!

Online School

15 kids, lots of homework and remote classes…

May was another month in which we continued to face this pandemic moment with our children. They have been accompanied daily by a pedagogue, an assistant (who not only helps in the remote classes, but also does daily devotions with our children) and a pedagogy intern.

This support team is funded by a couple who have richly blessed our mission through their generosity.

Special Thanks

Today we want to thank Dona Sarah Narcisa de Castro, 72, resident of Brasília Teimosa, for her support.

This very special lady blesses us by repairing and adjusting our children’s clothes with much love. Thank you very much, Mrs. Sarah!

Fun is Essential

Playing and having fun are part of our monthly agenda at Lar Maná. With the Covid-19 confinement, the activities with visitors that were so special to the little ones were quite limited. The outings have also become much less frequent.

However, we have been organizing and doing activities within our space, such as a walk on the beach on an early weekday. This way, the children can have fun with all the necessary care, despite the circumstances.

Educational Gift

This month we were gifted a large whiteboard by the American School of Recife, through the loving efforts of Teacher Fernanda Bonfim and the school’s Superintendent.

We can’t wait to fill this whiteboard with letters and numbers!

Health

If you have children or were once a child who needed dental treatment, you know that it is not always an easy task to take the little ones to the dentist.

Around here, it hasn’t been easy for us, but everything got better since we could count on the love and patience of Dr. Angelica Rocha, from OdontoArt, who was able to start the dental treatment of one of our children who was reluctant, but needed it so much.

Art Workshops

This was another month in which we had many activities and workshops with our psychopedagogue Lusileide Rodrigues. Many colors, glue and materials were used and our children put their creativity and imagination to play!

Who Takes Care of Me Day

Honoring those who take care of us is always important, isn’t it?

This Mother’s month we had a special day to honor our educators and social caregivers who take care of the children 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

The day was emotional and will be kept in the hearts of everyone who works for the welfare of the little ones at Lar Maná.

Fight Against Sexual Abuse of Children and Adolescents

You may have seen something about the “Orange May” campaign against child sexual abuse out there and wondered what it is all about.

May 18th is the National Day to Combat the Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children and Adolescents. This fight is part of our mission and, around here, we have had enlightening videos about the theme and discussions with our children.

We fight daily to protect them, and through information given properly, we keep fighting to make a difference in the wounded lives that pass by here.

Swimming Classes

Our little ones continue with their swimming classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the experienced teacher Tia Ceça, along with volunteers Tio Marcel and Tio Rodolffo.

It is such a blessing to see them grow and evolve healthily!

Computer Lessons

The children continue to amaze our team with each new computer class! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the little ones have computer classes provided by Santander Bank’s “Valuable Friend” Project.

Adoption Day

On May 25th, it’s nationally celebrated Adoption Day and our kids did a great job in an adoption simulation. We had a judge, a social worker and an adoptive parent represented. It was amazing to watch!

Meeting with the Secretary

This month we had two meetings with the staff of the Municipal Secretary of Social Policies and Human Rights of Paulista, with the Coordination of Special Social Protection of High Complexity, the Executive Secretary and the Financial Coordinator.

We always aim to maintain dialogue and align the processes with these entities to better serve our children.

“Valuable Friend” Training Session

If you have come this far, you have seen that the “Valuable Friend” Project by Santander Bank is part of our little ones’ routine here at Lar Maná, providing opportunities through computer classes and daily pedagogical support, for example.

In May, we had the opportunity to have a training session with the Project’s training team, who are very experienced dealing with causes of abuse and foster care and have been helping us financially since the year 2018.

Partnerships like this keep us hopeful about the future of the children who receive so many amazing opportunities here!

Did You Know You Can Have a Positive Impact on the Life of an At-risk Child?

Over the years, sponsoring a child has been one of the most effective ways to help them develop a positive self-image, get an education and rise up out of poverty.

When you join our dedicated team of professionals and volunteers through sponsorship, we work together to guarantee the physical well-being, mental health and spiritual development of that child.

If you want to be closely involved with the transformation of an at-risk child, you can now personally sponsor a child who lives at Lar Maná from wherever you are! Click here to start your journey of positively impacting a child’s life.
