Children’s Day

October was full of celebrations for our kids. Here in Brazil, children’s day is celebrated on Oct. 12th. Our little ones enjoyed a circus-themed party, with a magician, a clown and lots of laughter and fun! They also enjoyed a day with princesses, spiderman and a children’s theater group. Besides all the fun attractions, they enjoyed some delicious treats and gifts. It was an extremely joyful month!

Santander Bank Project – Pedagogical Support

We have continued with lots of activities and this month, the kids’ school started with some diagnostic assessments.

Beach Day

This past month, the children enjoyed a day at the beach to relieve some of the stress related to the Covid-19 lockdown mandates. It was a fun day at Catuama Beach!

First Aid Training

The Paulista SAMU team (Mobile Emergency Medical Services) provided our staff members with a day of first aid training. All to make sure that they are all equipped to aid our children in emergency situations.

Itaú-Unicef

Lar Maná is participating in Itaú and Unicef’s developmental course. It has been a month of many meetings between staff members and the children, where we have dived deep into rich studies involving our work and mission. We have been revisiting and perfecting our daily practices in the institution.

Sports Practices

The children continue regularly practicing sports like swimming, soccer and judo, all provided by the Projeto Criança Esperança (Hope for Children Project).

Health

The children’s vaccination cards were updated and we are happy to report that they are all complete. They do not always come to us with medical records in order.

Dental Visit

Our kids were gifted by dentists Dr. Ana Amélia Maynard Lapa, Renata Leitão and Verônica Luna, who did a wonderful job in taking care of their smiles.

Special Visit

This past month, we were blessed by a very special visit at Lar Maná. Our beloved Edinho, André and Andrey, who are brothers and spent years being cared for at Lar Maná, have been adopted by wonderful parents and came by to visit us.

They were very emotional and we cried together as we reflected on how blessed they are now in their new family.
